Electric Skateboards Trucks ADT and TKP Selection Introduction

Electric Skateboards Trucks ADT and TKP Selection Introduction

Both ADT and TKP can be perfectly fitted to your RUCKUS, but what are the differences between them, and which one is more suitable for you? This article will guide you to learn more about the differences between ADT and TKP and how to choose.

Part 1: What is ADT?

Part 1: What is ADT?

RUCKUS ADT

ADT stands for Adjustable Damping Truck, which was first introduced by PROPEL EV in 2024 to incorporate hydraulic damping for correcting steering forces, particularly in sudden turns, thereby inhibiting wobble and enhancing stability and safety. ADT achieves a fully adjustable steering experience through the use of two turning bushings at the front and rear, four rebound bushings located at the front, rear, left, and right, and 18 levels of hydraulic damping adjustment, both front and rear. It is touted as the electric skateboard with the most powerful adjustment capabilities in the world. With just a few tweaks, you can undoubtedly find your own personal sweet spot. It is referred to as “the most customizable board” for the following reasons:

1.Three different hardness levels of turning bushings offer personalized baseline steering forces.

The steering force of the ADT is a smooth curve resulting from the combination of multiple forces. Among them, the Turning bushing provides the baseline steering force. The choice of which directly correlates to the rider’s weight. Lighter riders should opt for the gray bushing, heavier riders should choose the black turning bushing, and exceptionally heavy riders should go for the red turning bushing.

2.The steering force and return force can be individually adjusted in all four directions: front, back, left, and right.

After selecting the Turning bushing that suits your weight, it’s time to pick the right Rebound bushing and adjust it accordingly. The steering feel primarily stems from the combination of steering and return forces in all four directions: front, back, left, and right. The ADT achieves this through the integration of springs and Rebound bushings in three different hardness levels (red, black, gray) in each direction, along with the ability to fine-tune preload. These adjustment options cater to the steering force preferences of riders of all weights, allowing you to tailor the response to even the subtlest inputs from your left toe or right heel.

3.Nine-speed hydraulic resistance adjustment at the front and rear

Similar to the hydraulic stabilizer bars found on motorcycles, Ruckus’s hydraulic damping system absorbs all abnormal steering impacts, whether they come from sudden jolts from the ground or the deadly wobble caused by operational errors. It mitigates these shocks, allowing the skateboard to remain stable and controllable. Riders who prefer agile handling can adjust the hydraulic settings to a lower level, while those who crave high-speed stability can crank it up. Even more, you can customize your ride by lowering the hydraulic settings on the front truck and raising them on the rear truck, achieving both low-speed agility and high-speed stability simultaneously.

Advantages and Disadvantages of ADT

Advantages: The flexible deck paired with fully customizable features means once you find your personal sweet spot, you’ll never be able to go back to a skateboard with generic settings.

Disadvantages: With numerous adjustment options, it requires more patience to explore and find the perfect setup.

Part 2: What is TKP?

Part 2: What is TKP?

RUCKUS ADT

TKP stands for Traditional Kinping Truck, a traditional electric skateboard truck with only a single-layer pivot, simple structure and strong stability.

1. Classic control experience

We’ve comprehensively optimized the TKP while perfectly preserving all its advantages. Through kinematic calculations, we’ve increased the ground clearance while ensuring stability, and combined it with the beloved Double Drop Deck design to achieve the perfect blend of stability and flexibility. If you love the classic carving sensation and straightforward tuning, this is undoubtedly the one for you.

2.Easy to adjust

Compared to the detailed adjustments required for ADT, adjusting the turning force of TKP is as simple as tightening or loosening the bolts on the main pivot, making it easy to adjust and suitable for a wide range of users.

3.High stability

The Ruckus TKP is an optimized truck that not only retains the stability and handling feel of traditional TKP, but we’ve also increased the wheelbase and adopted a 12mm axle, significantly enhancing its overall stability and strength.

4.RUCKUS TKPaxle parameters

Our Ruckus TKP axle is meticulously designed to meet the real-world needs of skateboarders.

Marker 1: The contact surface between the hanger and the axle is reinforced to withstand the highest stress during impacts.

Marker 2: This surface has a 15mm diameter, perfectly fitting the inner ring of 6001 bearings, preventing damage to the bearing covers.

Marker 5: We’ve reserved space for easy axle replacement, allowing a 12mm wrench to be used without harming the axle’s smooth surface.

Marker 3: The contact surface with the 6001 bearings.

Marker 4: Features an M10 thread for secure attachment.

This thoughtful design enhances durability and performance for a superior riding experience.

Advantages and Disadvantages of TKP

Advantages: Simple structure and easy adjustment.

Disadvantages: It offers a generalized adjustment experience and cannot be customized to individual preferences.

Part 3: Both ADT and TKP share the following common features:

RUCKUS ADT

1. The main body material is the same:

Both ADT and TKP, as custom-made trucks by PROPEL EV for RUCKUS, are crafted from 6061 aluminum through precision CNC machining.

2. Same as deck connection method:

Both ADT and TKP utilize a universal four-hole mounting system with 5mm diameter mounting holes. The spacing between the mounting holes is 63.5mm and 40mm, which means they are directly compatible with double-drop decks featuring the same mounting hole pattern, such as those from Slanted, Lacroix, or Trampa.

3. Same as tire connection method

Both ADT and TKP utilize 12mm axles, which means their hubs and tires are interchangeable between the two.

Summarize

Both ADT and TKP are fantastic trucks, as they are compatible with a wide range of decks and tires, allowing you to even own both. If we must differentiate, ADT is ideal for those seeking the ultimate carving comfort, DIY enthusiasts who enjoy tinkering with modifications, and racers striving for speed and championship titles. On the other hand, TKP caters to those who love the classic carving feel of traditional skateboards and minimalist riders who prefer simplicity in their rides.
