All great ideas start in the most peculiar of places: in a garage, an attic, or a messy room. In our case, it all started on the road. In 2012, a group of adventurous friends came together in our search of a super-cool electric off-road vehicle.

Why off-road? Because it holds the best of camping, hiking, and long drives — all in one.

Imagine the ecstatic experience of feeling the wind in your hair, witnessing the sun rising over the snow-peaked mountains, or walking through lush green forests. These vehicles have the ability to connect you to nature in the most glorious way possible. But, we soon realized that many traditionally available all-terrain vehicles were difficult to transport, and buying them was like using a sledgehammer on our bank accounts.

Tired of the bulky, extravagant, and expensive designs, we decided to take things into our own hands and manufacture the lightest off-road vehicle for all the brave-hearts out there.

Our dream team consisted of outdoor enthusiasts, vehicle designers and production management experts from famous related brands. No wonder we seamlessly transformed into a capable entrepreneurial team.

Our idea was to utilize the team’s automotive experience to build the ultimate off road ESK8s. In order to do this right we were driven by 2 important guiding principals. Products needed to be innovative in mechanical design within ESK8 and secondly the products needed to be produced ethically with transparent communication to all riders.

The first early designs were extremely unique and approached primarily from an automotive R&D perspective. The vehicles needed to be comfortable and able to withstand punishing terrains. Initial designs for the first prototype were sketched by us by hand, and the first sample was designed with independent suspension shock absorption systems and several other components common in the automotive world. Was it unique? Absolutely. Was it an ESK8? Not exactly. Not yet.

That all changed when the first Generation was successfully manufactured in 2013. The seven years that followed involved uncountable redesigns, updates, and hard work to iterate four generations of vehicles. It was a rollercoaster ride that involved overturning and verifying numerous design ideas, obtaining seven national patents in 2016, and a total of 20000km road tests. Along the way we won a Red Dot design award! Each second was exhilarating, and each step brought us closer to our dream: “To build the Best Off-Road esk8 in the World.”

The first product we launched was the X4S（X4R）, a game-changer in the world of ESK8. This mini off-road vehicle chassis featured multi-link independent suspension and four-wheel steering, much like a traditional car, and it quickly became a favorite among vehicle modifiers and off-road enthusiasts. The X4S attracted ESK8 lovers from around the globe to join the Propel EV family, providing invaluable feedback that helped shape our products. This spirit of collaboration inspired our slogan: “By Riders, For Riders.”

In the following years, our entire team at Propel EV worked tirelessly alongside countless riders, introducing a brand-new product each year with unique features. We developed the simplified Urban Independent Suspension specifically for ESK8, launched the Endeavor series known for its supreme comfort, created the cost-effective 2-in-1 crossover PIVOT, and the versatile RUCUKUS, along with the portable power bank Sigma. Each product is a testament to creativity and pushes the electric skateboard industry forward.

Propel EV isn’t just a name to us; it’s an ethos. We are confident we will propel personal electric vehicle technology forward.
